As Elspeth said, this is my favorite style of all the ones I've considered so far. The others just require way too much time for me to maintain a two comic a week schedule. That said, this one requires a bit more time as well... but I think I'll be able to manage. 'Twill just be a matter of doing a bit more planning, most of which I can do in my head while doing other things. If things work out well enough, I'd like to move doing three comics per week.
I've been considering the current nature of the political machine in my country (the United States, if you didn't already know) from a slightly more philosophical angle lately. I've always had a liking for philosophy. Understanding the nature of humanity can be very useful in many things.
Anyway, the 'liberals' or statists (a term which is much more accurate, and I do thank Mark Levin for introducing it to me) seem to have a goal of total perfection for all people, but don't believe the people can achieve it themselves. As such, they desire to control everything to they can force this perfection upon the people. Some see this as commendable... I see it as foolhardy, and that's being nice about it. Even if total perfection were possible (and it's not), it would require absolute conformity. All people would have to think and act exactly alike. Any slight difference in belief could create conflict and destroy the perfection. Conformity leads to stagnation. Stagnation leads to extinction. Things that do not change tend to fade away, and change requires a catalyst which cannot be found without conflict.
People are beautiful because they are different. They function despite the imperfections... perhaps even because of the imperfections. People should be allowed to decide their own fates, and not have it thrust upon them by those who believe they have more authority. Humans are not gods, nor should they be gods.
